Responsibilities
- Partner closely with product managers, engineers, designers, marketing, insurance experts, and other team members to improve customer experience and enhance our business.
- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing analysis to various business areas within the Haven Life team.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Inform, influence, and support product in making data driven decisions.
- Identify data needs and gaps, and work with developers to devise solutions in data gathering, ingestion, and modeling.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources
- Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs
- Ad hoc support for key business needs or requests.
Requirements
- BS/BA Required
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a Data Analyst role
- Expert in using BI tools to analyze and manipulate data, such as Tableau and Qlik
- Expert in using SQL for data extraction and cleaning
- Strong background data cleaning, analysis and visualization using Python or R in a business environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to present and communicate findings in a clear manner to a variety of audiences.
- Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity and attention to detail.
- Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- While we’re all working from home these days, you must have the ability to work from our NYC location full time when we return to the office.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Effective time management skills and the ability prioritize multiple initiatives is essential.
- 5 + years of investment data experience with an understanding of systems and data management fixed income and equity securities, alternative assets, and derivatives, and how investment information for each asset classes is used
- Experience working with large data sets and multiple sources of data; comfortable using excel and SQL/Oracle query tools
- Proven success working across multiple priorities with limited guidance
- Strong quantitative orientation, analytical skills, and seasoned judgment as well as a high level of intellectual curiosity and tolerance for navigating ambiguity
- Must be able to explore multiple solutions to a problem and present and defend solutions based on an analysis of facts and an understanding of stakeholder needs
- Ability to manage own priorities and adapt quickly to changes
- Prior experience driving continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility
- Desire to learn and ability to apply learnings to business issues
- Self-starter with proven ability to organize and direct quality work efforts
- Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, comfortable interacting with vendors, business partners and internal Investment and IT teams
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related area
- Knowledge of Bank of New York’s Eagle Investment System, STAR, PACE and Data Mart
- Expert user of excel and proficient with SQL/Oracle query tools
- Cognos, Microstrategy, or other reporting tool experience a plus
